Liam Byrne, BA, HDip, Dip. Ac, Lic. Ac. (Nanjing, China), Dip. Tuina, RC Hyp, Dip Hyp, Dip Yoga is a registered acupuncturist with AFPA, the oldest and largest professional body for practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ireland. In addition to traditional body acupuncture he also uses abdominal, auricular (ear) acupuncture and holographic techniques in his practice. He has completed post graduate studies in Facial Rejuvenation Acupucture which he practices as a therapy designed to rejuvenate the appearance through holistic side effect free techniques that have been used for centuries.

              What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is the original oriental way of revealing your true self through glowing healthy skin, lips and bright radiant eyes.

Also known as 'facial rejuvenation therapy', this ancient art is a means of bringing you back to your natural state of harmony and of uncovering the true you that has been covered over by the stress and strain of everyday life.

              How does it work?

Although called 'facial' rejuvenation, in fact this is a holistic mind and body technique that works on every aspect of your being, physical, mental, emotional and of course in the complexion which is the direct manifestation of who you truly are.

After a diagnosis based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine and 5 Element Principles your practitioner will treat carefully determine exactly where your energy system is weak or where it needs to be strengthened. You should not be afraid to tell anything no matter how seemingly irrelevant to your practitioner as the principles of diagnosis are quite different to those of western medicine and what appears to be unrelated from a western perspective may in fact be key from a Chinese Medicine perspective.

Once your practitioner has determined how best to treat your energy system he or she will begin the acupuncture session working from your feet upwards. The last area is the face itself. Prior to selecting which areas of the face to work on, he or she will soften and enliven the tissue of the face with a gentle massage and bathing of the face in rose water. Together you will then decide which areas of your complexion are most important to you and tiny, painless rejuvenation needles will be used to at key acupuncture points on the face and in the lines of the face which you have selected. The sensation of needling is one of energetic tingling as the production of collagen and endorphins is stimulated by the needles.

Now you can just lie back relax and enjoy as the needles work their magic on your energy system, your immune system, your mind and body, bringing harmony to you from within and without.

              Practicalities.

Your first session will take up to 90 minutes to complete, taking into account the initial consultation. Follow up sessions take approximately 1 hour.  A course of 10 to 15 treatments taken weekly is recommended for good long term results. However you are welcome to come for one off sessions which will be beneficial  but not long lasting if there are frequent and long intervening periods between subsequent sessions.
